Principle of Broyal Pearlescent Pigment
Pearlescent pigment is a commonly used colorant in cosmetics whose main function is to give cosmetics a reflective luster effect. Its principle is based on the refraction and interference effects of light.
Firstly, the main components of pearlescent pigment are silicon dioxide (SiO2) or mica, which are usually processed through a series of physical or chemical methods to form tiny particles. This is why pearlescent pigment can present such a rich variety of color effects.
Furthermore, the size and shape of the pearlescent pigment particles also affect their reflective luster characteristics. Larger particles create rough surfaces, thereby enhancing light scattering and multiple reflections, making the colors appear brighter and have higher coverage. Smaller particles, on the other hand, produce smooth surfaces, reducing light scattering and multiple reflections, resulting in more delicate colors and stronger transparency.
Additionally, apart from the size and shape of the particles, the color of pearlescent pigment can also be adjusted through coating or by adding specific pigments. Coating can change the refractive index and reflective properties of the particle surfaces, thus altering the color and luster effect of the pearlescent pigment. Adding specific pigments allows the pearlescent pigment to display different colors, meeting the needs of different cosmetic products.
In summary, pearlescent pigment utilizes the principles of light refraction and interference, along with adjustments in particle size and shape, coatings, and the addition of specific pigments, to achieve a diverse range of color effects and reflective lusters, making cosmetics more attractive and glossy.
